Raquel and Biel are cousins ββwho fall in love and eventually marry, as love proves stronger than religion or blood ties; they are deeply, madly in love.
One day, Raquel discovers that the savory snacks Biel brings home are stolen goods; she calls the police, and Biel is arrested. In court, Raquel doesn't hire a lawyer to get Biel released, but rather to convince the judge to increase his sentence from two years to an additional eight. She succeeds and returns home satisfied, believing Biel will learn his lesson during those years. After eight years, Biel is released; he returns to Raquel and embraces her, having realized she did it for his own good. They reconcile and live out their love together. The end

The snacks being savory is the part I keep turning over. Salty bags from a shop, and she still asks the judge for more time. That scale is the joke and also a little chilling.

A lawyer hired to make the sentence longer turns the whole courtroom scene upside down. It reminds me of old telenovela plots, where love and punishment arrive in the same package and nobody in the family finds it odd. I bet Biel tells this at every family dinner now, and Raquel corrects the numbers.
