what is the rain doing exactly? it destroys and rebuilds, is the rain you or them or the whole situation?

I brought my light, and you rejected it.

I brought my love, and what did you give me in return?

I found you in the infinite ocean of your dark eyes.

I pulled you out, and in the end, I drowned.

I watched your face from afar as I drifted at sea.

The cloudy sky overcame me,

and the dark rain upon your face startled me.

Like light reflected on water,

the light I saw was nothing but a reflection of what had already passed.

The thunder of your words echoes in my mind,

but I only see the lightning of your emotions.

The rain still falls,

the water still flows,

the reflection still shines,

the thunder still echoes...

And finally, the last lightning of a storm

ceases to shine.

Just as the rain destroys,

it also rebuilds,

and I move on,

carrying your laments in my shadow,

which I once believed to be love poetry.

you end by moving on, but there's no forgiveness in it and no release either. just carrying the weight and knowing what it is now. that's honest.

i recognised the part where you realise the thing you named love was actually their pain in your hands.

the whole thing is images. dark eyes, drowning, rain, lightning. each one a mirror of something. you see yourself in all of it.

the line about light reflected on water being just what already passed. i copied that one down.

so by the end you're carrying their laments but you know now it wasn't love poetry. do you mean you finally see clearly what it was, or you still don't know?

i'm thinking about the person who rejected the light. i wonder what they remember of this.

the part where you pulled them out and then drowned instead, do you mean that literally happened, or is that how losing them felt?
