Chapter 7 — The Tomorrow Project
Lily explained everything.
Years ago, she and Mia had discovered a hidden room beneath the old park.
Inside were hundreds of diaries.
Every diary contained dates from the future.
But there was one rule.
Never change what was written.
Mia stared at her.
“Who created them?”
“We don't know.”
“And Ethan?”
Lily looked away.
“He knew more than we did.”
Before Mia could ask another question, the first diary opened by itself.
A new sentence appeared.
“Ethan is coming.”
Noah stepped backward.
“Maybe we should leave.”
The lights in the park suddenly went out.
Then came the sound.
Tok.
Tok.
Tok.

Diaries that already hold tomorrow, with a single rule never to change them, is a setup where somebody always ends up breaking the rule. My guess is Ethan tried it once, and that's why he knows more than Lily and Mia ever did. The lights going out right as the first diary opens on its own has me waiting for chapter 8 now!
