Inside, inside, I rot from within

It hides its face, a beacon of sin,

Oh dear, my heart, it aches ever so

A piece of my soul that has died from hope

Do not believe, do not perceive, for death does not shout

There is no crevice in the dark so the light may shine out,

Rejoice, rejoice in our constant sin, for the heavens have forsaken us, our life is dim

It rained, it rained as nature poured for your life,

my dear, my love, must you be the sacrifice?

We yearn, we mourn, we crave for your soul, we grieve for your light so it may make us whole once more.

Rejoicing in sin sounds like a bent version of the Exsultet, the Easter Vigil hymn with the happy fault, the sin worth it because of what comes after.

Here the sin stays and nothing comes after, the heavens just leave. My guess is that flip is on purpose, and it turns the sacrifice line into an accusation.

Signing it off to @death, like a letter with a return address nobody wants, makes me think of the old habit of writing to someone after they are gone, as if the post still ran there. I bet this one came out close to the day of the rain in the third verse, it has that heat. Thanks for putting it here, it will find the people who need it.
