Passion in Three Touches
My name is Mariagracia Nuñez Murriagui; I am 14 years old, and today I am going to talk to you about my favorite sport: volleyball. Volleyball is much more than just a sport to me; it is one of my greatest passions. From the moment I touch the ball for the first time in a match, I feel a unique connection with the court and my team.
I love the adrenaline rush of jumping for a spike, the absolute focus required to receive a difficult serve, and the indescribable satisfaction of pulling off a perfect block. It is a game of split seconds, where every movement counts and the mind must remain as cool as the body is active.
What captivates me most about volleyball is the true teamwork involved. In this sport, no one can win alone; we rely on mutual trust, constant communication, and supporting each other on every point, regardless of whether we are winning or losing. Every match teaches me about discipline, resilience, and camaraderie. Volleyball allows me to disconnect from the world and fills me with an incredible energy I can't find anywhere else.
The first time I stepped onto a volleyball court, I didn't quite know what to expect, but that day is etched in my memory as the beginning of a great passion. At first, everything seemed like a chaotic blur of rapid movements, the loud sound of balls hitting the floor, and players running back and forth.
I remember perfectly the mix of nerves and excitement as I stepped onto the court. The ball felt heavy, and my arms turned bright red from those first few receptions, but my desire to keep playing was stronger than the pain. It didn't matter if I missed a serve or if the ball didn't go exactly where I wanted; every time I managed to get the ball over the net, I felt an incredible rush of adrenaline. The best part was discovering, right from that first moment, the magic of celebrating a point as a team and feeling the support of others realizing that out there, no one plays alone. When the match ended tired and with my arms marked from the impact I knew I never wanted to stop playing.
