Version: v1.1 (Gäller från: 26 augusti 2026)

Det här har ändrats i den här versionen
The two places these rules ask you to get in touch now link to our contact form, so reporting a member you are worried about and appealing a moderation decision both have somewhere to go. No rule changed: the substance is identical to version 1.0.
Seavien is built for good-faith disagreement. These Rules of Conduct explain what that means in practice: what we expect from you, what is not allowed here, and what happens when someone crosses the line.
They apply everywhere on Seavien, including posts, thoughts, groups, series, boards, profiles and direct messages. They are part of our Terms and Conditions, so breaking them can cost you your content or your account.
The Short Version
- Argue the position, not the person.
- Say what you actually think, and be willing to be disagreed with.
- Bring something to the conversation. Volume is not a contribution.
- Report what crosses the line instead of escalating it.
Argue the Position, Not the Person
Disagreement is the point of Seavien, and strong, direct, uncomfortable criticism of an idea is welcome. What is not welcome is turning that on the person holding it: insults, name-calling, mockery of someone’s identity or circumstances, sneering at a member’s history, or organizing others to pile on.
You are also expected to engage with what someone actually said. Deliberately misrepresenting another member’s position, quoting them out of context to make them look bad, or following someone from conversation to conversation to relitigate an argument are all treated as harassment rather than debate.
What Is Not Allowed
- Harassment and bullying: targeting a person with abuse, unwanted contact, threats to expose them, or coordinated pile-ons.
- Hate speech: attacking or dehumanizing people because of who they are, including race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or serious illness.
- Threats and violence: threatening harm, wishing harm on someone, glorifying violence, or encouraging others to commit it.
- Sexual content involving minors: absolutely prohibited, in any form, including drawings, edited images and text. We remove it, disable the account, preserve the evidence and report it to the relevant authorities.
- Unmarked adult content: adult content must be marked as such so people can choose whether to see it. Sexual content involving anyone who has not consented to it being shared is never allowed.
- Private information: publishing someone’s personal details without their consent, such as a home address, phone number, private messages, identity documents or workplace, or threatening to do so.
- Illegal content and illegal goods: content that breaks the law, or that offers, sells or sources things that cannot legally be offered, sold or sourced.
- Impersonation and fraud: pretending to be another person, organization or Seavien itself, and scams, phishing or deceptive money-making schemes.
- Spam: repetitive or bulk posting, automated posting, engagement farming, and promotion that contributes nothing to the conversation it is placed in.
- Filler: content posted in volume with nothing behind it, including duplicate reposts and text nobody has read before publishing it. Writing tools are fine. Publishing something you would not stand behind is not.
- Other people’s work: posting content you do not have the rights to, or presenting someone else’s work as your own. Credit your sources and quote rather than copy wholesale.
- Working around moderation: creating new accounts to evade a suspension, sharing accounts to get around limits, or scraping and automating access to the Services.
Self-Harm Is Treated as a Support Case
Talking about your own struggles is not a rule violation, and we do not moderate people for it. What we do remove is content that encourages, instructs or pressures anyone toward self-harm.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country. Reporting a member you are worried about is a reasonable thing to do, and you can also reach us directly.
Groups Set Their Own Tone
Group hosts run their own rooms. A host can set additional expectations for their group, remove content that does not fit it, and remove or ban a member from it. Group rules can ask for more than these rules do. They can never ask for less, and these rules always apply inside a group.
Direct Messages
These rules apply in private messages exactly as they do in public. You can report a message, and you can block a member so they can no longer reach you or reply to your posts. Sending someone abuse in private is not a smaller violation than saying it in public.
Reporting
If something crosses the line, report it. Posts, thoughts, profiles and messages each have a report option, and reports go to our moderation team rather than to the person you reported. We also screen content automatically when it is published, and content that hits our most serious safety categories is held for review before anyone else can see it.
Reporting is not a way to win an argument. Reports filed in bad faith, or in volume to silence someone, are themselves a violation.
What Happens When These Rules Are Broken
What we do depends on how serious it is and on what has happened before. We may:
- remove the content, or limit how widely it is shown;
- hold content for review before it becomes publicly visible;
- remove a member from a group;
- restrict or suspend an account, temporarily or permanently;
- report the matter to the authorities where the law requires it.
As a rule we act on the content first and the account second. Serious violations, including anything involving minors, credible threats or coordinated harassment, can end an account immediately and without warning.
If You Think We Got It Wrong
Moderation decisions are made by people, and people get things wrong. If you believe we made a mistake, use our contact form or write to us at contact-us@seavien.com, with a link to the content or the account and a short note about what you think we missed. We will look again.
Changes to These Rules
We may update these Rules of Conduct as the community grows and as we learn where they fall short. Any change is posted on this page with a new effective date, and earlier versions stay available here.
