Chapter 9 β The Missing Memory
Mia stared at Ethan.
βWhat do you mean?β
Ethan opened the second diary.
Inside was another photograph.
Mia, Lily, and Ethan stood beneath the oak tree.
But Mia couldn't remember Ethan.
βYou were here,β Ethan said.
βTen years ago.β
βThat isn't possible.β
βIt is.β
Ethan pointed to the date.
September 20, 2016.
Mia's memory began to return.
A hidden room.
A wooden door.
Lily crying.
Ethan shouting.
And someone closing the door behind them.
Mia suddenly remembered.
There had been another person.
A fourth child.
But the face was missing from her memory.
