Jealousy
Jealousy is a strange feeling.
It doesn't always scream.
Sometimes, it quietly sits inside us when we see someone achieving what we secretly wish for.
Someone gets praised, and we wonder, βWhy not me?β
Someone succeeds, and instead of celebrating, we compare.
Someone shines, and suddenly we feel like our own light has become smaller.
But here is the truth:
Another person's success does not steal anything from you.
Their achievements are not proof of your failure.
Their beauty is not proof that you lack it.
Their talent is not proof that you have none.
Their happiness is not taking away yours.
Jealousy becomes dangerous when comparison becomes more important than growth.
Instead of asking, βWhy do they have it?β
ask, βWhat can I learn from them?β
Because you don't need to pull someone else down to rise.
You don't need to dim another person's light to make yours visible.
Let their success inspire you, not destroy your peace.
Everyone has a different journey.
And sometimes, the person you're jealous of today might simply be showing you what is possible tomorrow.
π± Don't compete with someone's chapter 20 while you're still writing chapter 5.
Keep growing.
Your story is still being written.

PermalinkI'd push back a little on the learn-from-them turn. Sometimes jealousy is just information about what you want and haven't admitted yet, and it deserves a look before it becomes inspiration.

PermalinkChapter 20 against chapter 5 is a comparison a lot of people here will feel, since so many of them are posting their own early chapters. For me the quiet version you describe, the jealousy that sits instead of screaming, is the one that sneaks up hardest. I bet this one gets saved by a few people today!
