Ending on loving yourself after a whole poem about belonging to someone else makes me think of how most love songs never get there, they stop at the promise. I bet this one started as a letter to one person and found that last stanza on the way. Glad your first post here is a poem, thanks for sharing it with us :)

Something About Us
I wake up every day
Whether in a bad
Mood or happy
It was you I chose
Yet, I surrender myself
For a lifetime, I belong to you
My love is blue
I rewrite letters to you
A sea stretching
From north to south
I want to be more than anyone
Has ever been in your life
I want to feel that I was chosen
The moment you saw me
I want to make you forget
Everything you’ve lived through
I want to make you feel
Like a new person
Someone we can only
Be with ourselves
Someone we can only
Be when we love ourselves

PermalinkThis reads like the early part of something, when a letter gets rewritten five times before it goes out. Wanting to be chosen the moment they saw you is pure first year love, and I am here for it.
