The bit about emotions being bridges underwater has been with me since this morning. Water that holds you up and water that ruins the thing holding you up, at the same time. My husband used to say a flat sea tells you nothing, and I have found that true enough.

Backward and forward, tow, but cause to hoe is forward and backward. Enough has been said but there is too much to hold. Count feathers too light but the wind is heavy, but it is too much to ask, please, tired, mercy. If life has purpose then why must we be the ones to find it. Bare bear in turn on pencil, a language you think not.
However, consider time and shall wrap in color. Confusion is not but buried stone. Keep yourself hidden or walk the streets naked with a blanket on your head. So many hands to hold but more to blink and even more to beat in per minute. These logical terms in ways no one can say.
“Fear not, fret later, my emotions are bridges underwater.” Do not think there was one left to burn for all has been kept in creep of shadows of which belongs below, mistake not, it’s not. Bubbles leave my mouth but grumbles find comfort in my back. But, my legs aren't strong, so why is it I can't kiss the clouds? I wonder in dearie for dire in dolphins hearts on tables called spreadsheets.
But names to not forward measure of finite, in yellow, i write but keeping cold wont justify a blanket. Forward water, refuse the name of halt, albeit time calls singing a disgrace and paint a waste. Yet, caution strides of bitter tongues. Taken in mistake, lighting is not afault in part of ablaze, the moon strikes the water and not without flinch. timeless , due for a massage. “Help” in noteless song, strides without rhyme nor rhythm.
Eternal, omnipresent. Say ‘fragile’ with a heart, I dare you. I dare a jump of flightless feet in wish to hold a meteor. I dare to flourish in absence of a flowerless field, a dream of which stays close to me. What is a kiwi and what sound does it make? As ironic as what I call a dream.
A spillage that was ne’er wiped, nor a countertop was for a pillow case. Casualties called wood ash yet were sombered on purpose. But was it worth it? Don't ask God, you did this. Backward and forward, tow, it was never about confusion. Water was never asked upon, but demanded.
I only wish competence was common sense, but parallel to flightless feet and flowerless fields, it's not for me to dwell on. Ones converge to what you hide, under a tombstone or inside a ribcage, looks like not all meets the light at the end of the line. Care to think, is a cage to protect what's inside or the rest of the world? What more is there, I'm tired, please give up.

PermalinkFeathers too light and the wind too heavy. I can picture that one exactly, down to which way the hand is holding them.

PermalinkThe kiwi line sticks out from everything around it. Was that one in from the start or did it arrive late?
-
PermalinkMy read is that this whole run is one long pun that refuses to resolve, and the dolphins on spreadsheets bit is where it stops pretending otherwise. Could be wrong.

PermalinkThird one in this series and the dares keep getting bolder, the one about saying fragile with a heart most of all. I bet that part arrived before the rest of it and everything else got built backward toward it. Reads like the ending came first and then you made the road to reach it. Thanks for keeping these coming!

PermalinkThe cage question at the end is the one I keep turning over. I read it as protecting the rest of the world from what's inside, which probably says more about me than about you.

Does your personality matter far less than you think?
I realize, interacting with students, teenagers and younger co-workers peers that many believe that their personality traits are a leading factor in deciding what do to or how to tackle their own career. Although younger people ask these questions more explicitly, older adults also seem to think along the same lines. I personally find it to be far more irrelevant than most people think. Besides my job, where I observe successful people doing the same role with drastically...

Stigmas of Pain
We would rather feel than know what causes the feeling.

Don't you think you should behave differently at the gym than at the office?
The older I get, the more I think most office workers do not need a more advanced gym program. They need to stop behaving like office workers for one hour. I am an office worker, but I feel I'm smarter about it. Let's go for big brain time Look, you sit all day at work. Then you go to the gym and immediately sit on machines between sets scrolling your phone, sit for chest press, sit for shoulder press, sit for cable rows, sit while resting, sit while texting, sit while checking fitness…

Does 'no days off' actually mean you're training hard enough?
“No days off” is one of those phrases that sounds tough right up until you think about it for more than five seconds. Because what is the sentence actually saying? If you genuinely train hard, really hard, with enough intensity to force adaptation, your body will demand recovery. Not emotionally. Biologically. Tissue damage, nervous system fatigue, glycogen depletion, inflammatory response. The entire point of hard training is that the body cannot fully maintain itself without rebuilding…

Is the alt-right pipeline a disaster for your life no matter what drove you into it?
A thing that pulled me toward this world initially was not really the politics, or at least not in the clean ideological sense people imagine afterward. It was the feeling of recognition. I would hear someone describe the atmosphere of being a man in your twenties in a way that felt uncomfortably accurate: drifting friendships, long stretches alone in an apartment, the sense that adulthood had arrived without any accompanying structure...

Shouldn't cultural criticism go both ways?
I had one of those big-tech team dinners. The conversation turned to how people met their partners. A few of my Indian coworkers talked about arranged marriage, family involvement, and how much more normal it is in India for marriage to be treated as a family matter and not just a private romantic choice. That part is ok, different cultures and all. It was interesting to see their perspective, even though I wouldn't share it. The problem started when one of them stopped describing the custom...

Did EDC culture turn normal life into a gear fantasy?
I used to think EDC culture was mostly harmless nerd behavior. Flashlights, pocket knives, notebooks, titanium pens, little organizers with seventeen bits in them. Fine. People like tools. People like objects. Some people enjoy refining a system. I get it. But at some point the culture drifted away from practical usefulness and turned into a kind of suburban tactical cosplay for people whose biggest daily threat is forgetting a password.

Do most people struggle with their feelings just because they lack the vocabulary?
A surprising number of emotional mistakes and pain comes just out of naming mistakes. Someone says he is angry when he is really ashamed. Someone says she feels unloved when what she feels is neglected, controlled, lonely, or embarrassed. Someone says he is stressed when the real state is dread, resentment, grief, or envy. Those are not tiny wording differences, but rather how we feel, accurately expressed They point to different problems, which means they call for different responses.
