Sun looks you in the eye and says shine, and you go no thanks. Same argument I have with it most mornings tbh.

"Unsaid Words"

As I walk about in my fright,
The sun shines ever so bright.
It is as if it looks me in the eye
And tells me to shine.

But all I can spare to do is whine,
Whine about the calamity of my own mind.
The weight of unsaid words flails about
And crushes the courage I gathered
From the mirage of those looks so kind.

The mirage of kind looks is the bit I keep going back to, how a nice glance can feel like proof and then not. Welcome btw, glad your first one here was this :)

Welcome, and glad you put this one up! The sun looking you in the eye and telling you to shine is exactly the bright morning after a rough night, when the weather is being kind and you have nothing to answer it with. My guess is the unsaid words get their own poem soon. Do you have more about that walk? Happy to add this to a poetry group too.

Sounds like the courage was real and the whining is the part you are hardest on. Calling your own mind a calamity while the sun tells you to shine is being tougher on yourself than anyone else is.
