It's not about birds.

Wandering through the vast world,

In groups

The bit about everyone having a path, relief for one person and a cage for the next, rings true to me. Same road, two very different people on it.

Wandering through the vast world,

hoping to find something genuine and true,

it would be like swimming in the open sea:

you don't know the depth,

and yet you take the risk.

Thousands of lives always come, disappear,

but never return.

We are alone in this,

beyond our own comfort.

Solitary birds, lurking and searching for their own kind,

fly far away, only to be discarded.

Solitary birds, like a still life,

nowhere, in search of companionship.

Sometimes, everything we long for doesn't come to our hands,

love can be as complex as the Pythagorean theorem.

They come and go, there is no belonging at all,

both flying freely, enjoying their freedom.

Red, copper and white feathers,

far from their nests, far from their chicks.

We all have a path to follow,

for some it is relief, for others, a true prison.

Enjoying this vast blue world.

We are trapped, in times of war,

there is nothing here but destruction.

Feathers flying through the air,

no one knows where they come from and where they go.

The sky can be beautiful,

the night, dark as a black diamond.

We are on the verge of collapse,

when the earth splits in half.

We are resilient like a tree,

but fragile like butterfly wings

feeling the weight of a drop of water.

White feathers, red feathers,

constant disappearance flying in opposite directions,

without ever feeling the sweetness of love.

Two birds both flying freely and neither one ever landing. Sounds like a love where nobody was the bad guy, there just was never a nest.

Pythagorean theorem right next to copper and white feathers, I did not see that pairing coming and I like it a lot! It reads like the poem keeps trying to measure something that refuses to hold still: the birds, love, even the earth splitting. I bet a good part of this came out in one go today.
