Our unforgettable adventure along the Lenca Route in Honduras begins with a fun photo stop at the colourful "Yo Amo Otoro" sign, located in JesĆŗs de Otoro. It's the perfect way to kick off the trip! Afterwards, we head to Restaurante Villa Verde, a charming spot with vibrant murals and cosy rustic spaces, to enjoy delicious local gastronomy.
The journey continues up to the Viajero Lenca lookout, featuring its striking giant hand-shaped staircase and spectacular mountain views. From there, we arrive in La Esperanza, IntibucĆ”, where we enjoy a delicious lunch, pose in front of the iconic town sign beneath the historic La Gruta viewpoint, stroll down cobblestone streets shaded by colorful suspended umbrellas, and explore artisan markets filled with handcrafted Lenca textiles...
After a day filled with exploration and discovery, we finally arrived at our hotel, a cozy refuge with charming brick columns and a unique glass roof that let the night sky in. We settled in and, after a brief moment to freshen up, we got ready for the highlight of the evening: a visit to the local hot springs. The natural thermal pools, tucked away among lush vegetation and illuminated by a soft glow, were the perfect place to unwind, soak, and let the warmth wash away the day's fatigue, surrounded by friends and family. The experience was truly rejuvenating! After enjoying our night-time bath, we returned to the hotel, feeling completely relaxed. We took some time to get comfortable and prepare for a good night's rest, sharing stories, laughter, and reflection in our room. As our conversation winded down, we drifted into a peaceful slumber, recharging our bodies for another exciting day ahead.
A Morning at Villa de Ada Hotel de Campo
The next morning, we woke up refreshed and ready for a new day. We headed over to the hotel's charming open-air restaurant, "La Molienda," where we enjoyed a delicious traditional breakfast together. Afterwards, we returned to our rooms to pack up our belongings and organize our things. Before saying goodbye, we took one last walk around the beautiful grounds of Villa de Ada Hotel de Campo, capturing a few final photos and soaking in the peaceful countryside atmosphere...
Onward to Gracias, Lempira
After saying goodbye to our beautiful countryside hotel, we continued our Lenca Route adventure. Our destination was the historic town of Gracias, located in the Lempira department. One of the town's key landmarks is the grand Castillo San CristĆ³bal, and a photo with the massive, colorful "GRACIAS" sign that stands before it was a must! We spent time exploring the fortress, and I even took a moment to relax and capture a photo while sitting inside one of its historic watchtowers, soaking in the views and the history of this remarkable colonial town...
A Journey into Santa Rosa de CopƔn
Continuing our Lenca Route adventure, we moved deeper into the picturesque highlands, and our journey led us to the vibrant and historic city of Santa Rosa de CopƔn. Known as the capital of good coffee and cigars, this charming town, with its well-preserved colonial architecture and welcoming atmosphere, immediately won us over.
While exploring, our path led us to a place that combined deep spiritual meaning with impressive natural beauty.Within a serene pine forest, a unique landmark surprised us: a giant sculpture shaped like an open book, carved into stone. On its pages, the Ten Commandments of God's Law were perfectly written, reflecting the rich faith and history of the region. Following a steep staircase, we reached the highest point, where a majestic iron cross stands. We took advantage of the moment to rest and take a group photo, capturing the beautiful forest and cloudy sky in the background.

To wrap up our tour on a high note, we arrived at one of the most vibrant and artistic spots in town: the iconic thematic staircase and its surroundings.
The Welcome Arch: Topped by the iconic bee and the phrase "Yo ā¤ļø Dulce Nombre", this arch pays tribute to local beekeeping and the town's key craft traditions, such as tobacco making, woodworking, blacksmithing, and coffee farming.
Painted Staircase: The steps serve as an open-air canvas featuring a striking mural that captures the warmth and faces of the local people.
Folklore Monument: At the top, grand large-scale sculptures of a couple performing traditional Honduran folk dances showcase the movement, essence, and bright colors of local traditional attire.
It is the perfect photo spot to conclude the visit and appreciate the rich artistic identity that defines Dulce Nombre de CopƔn.
Our journey along the Lenca Route comes to a close in Dulce Nombre de CopƔn, completing an itinerary filled with tradition, natural beauty, and the warmth of its people. Traversing this historic path offers more than scenic mountain views and colonial architecture; it provides a direct connection to the living roots of an ancient culture.
From traditional pottery and local craftsmanship to vibrant murals, monuments, and colorful streets, every stop along the way celebrates the pride, history, and identity of Honduras. The Lenca Route is more than a tripāit is an unforgettable experience that stays with every traveler long after the journey ends.
