He tells her the apology means nothing without actions, then keeps showing up to comfort her, which is a kind of action too. I don't trust this friendship to stay a friendship for long.

— He treats me as if I were nothing… I saw him with her… — she said, between sobs, trying to hide her tears, which she wiped away with her already slightly reddened eyes.

Before I carry on, my dear, I think I’ve forgotten to mention that rainy day: we were strolling through the city centre and popping into shops without buying anything (please don’t raise your eyebrow) during the little time we had to ourselves. She was gazing at the clouds in the sky, which, dark and heavy-looking, were covering the sky above us. As we left a toy shop (and this brought out her more childish side), the first raindrops began to fall on us whilst we continued our ‘stroll’. Her hair (which by this time had already been cut short) was soaked; she laughed as she said that, in her opinion, it looked better after being caught in the rain. We were in no hurry, but of course, it wasn’t wise for us to get soaked, so we had to call the walk to a close. That day, because of the ‘pleasure’, there were caresses and gestures that put us in a delicate situation, where from then on, we had to ‘abide by’ an order to ‘keep our distance’.

Anyway. Not one. But two. After me, there were actually two; the last one reduced her to the state described earlier. There was no ‘resentment’ in our sudden break-up, so I listened to her, as a friend. (A mistake that now makes everything even more excruciating.) She was fragile, as always. Although she said she hated feeling ‘weak’, by this point it already pained me to see those beautiful, big eyes almost brimming over. So, we started talking again – not in quite the same way as before, of course (should I repeat my earlier request?), but I comforted her and tried, in that moment, to be, in a genuine way, the friend she needed. However, when she told me that he had ‘apologised’ to her, I – being honest about my thoughts on everything that had happened to her – said that he wouldn’t ‘change’ just because he’d apologised, and that it was his actions that should matter. She just… ‘said it wasn’t up to me to decide that’… (I wasn’t surprised).

I’m still rambling on too much… Have I left anything out or forgotten anything? (It’s up to you, my dear reader, to draw your own conclusions).

The rainy walk out of the toy shop is the happiest she's been in the whole run, and he sets it right next to her crying over the second one.
