Which path did you choose yourself? You describe all five, but I want to know which one your own sitting led you to.
Choose your spiritual goal.

What is your spiritual goal?
Sit down, relax, and remove all kinds of noise—from hearing anything unwanted. Make sure to do this in a quiet place alone with no disturbances at all. First, try to look within and ask: what is it that you want to achieve? Is it wealth? Is it health? Is it being able to fulfill your desires? Or spiritual enlightenment? Or achieving the state of oneness?
If health and wealth are your goals, then sorry to say this, but spirituality isn't for you. Then what about yoga? See, yoga is a way to purify you. It is not meant for your physical body alone; rather, it is to prepare you so you can achieve your spiritual goal. For example, if your goal is Kundalini, then yoga poses will help your body become strong—not for health purposes, but so that you can contain the energy of Kundalini. Here, your goal is the activation of Kundalini. This is why for those who think spirituality makes you beautiful or makes your life easy: sorry, you are heading in the wrong direction, and if you still believe that, nobody can help you.
Now, how do you choose your spiritual goal? It is as simple as I said: sit down and relax without any disturbances. Try to think about what you want to achieve. For this, you need to have the right understanding of what spiritual goals actually are.
Here is a list of spiritual goals:
* Path of Devotion: If your goal is peace of mind, then the path of devotion is for you.
* Path of Tantra: If your goal is to be able to fulfill any kind of desire or attain powers from parallel realms, then the path of Tantra is for you.
* Path of Kundalini: If your goal is to activate your dormant life-force energy, which is the root cause behind your life experiences, then the path of Kundalini is for you.
* Path of Yog: If you want to increase your awareness—commonly known as mindfulness—then the path of Yog is for you. Note that this is not the modern path of yoga, but Yog, where you practice different types of meditation, such as concentrating on objects, thoughts, etc.
* Path of Knowledge: If your goal is to achieve spiritual enlightenment through a direct path as fast as possible, without intermediate steps, and you are interested in spiritual knowledge, then the path of knowledge is for you. This path is the fastest way to reach oneness.
So, these are some of the major goals: oneness, powers, mindfulness, devotion, etc.
Choose the one wisely that suits you. Based on that, you can now easily select your path. To those who choose the path of knowledge, I always say that you have to do nothing except become what you already are. All the essential knowledge related to this has already been provided by me on this platform. Read every topic and understand it deeply. In the path of knowledge, knowledge itself is your goal. After achieving the knowledge of oneness, you are freed from this path. If you still wish to continue along it, you can contribute by passing this very same knowledge on to others.

PermalinkI don't know spiritual practice and I won't pretend to. But knowing what matters to you takes time and sometimes a few wrong turns. So when you say sit down and choose, what happens for someone who sits and doesn't hear a clear answer? Can you not have a spiritual goal and still be okay?

PermalinkWhy tell people they're heading in the wrong direction if they want something different? The framework works fine without the judgment.
-
PermalinkHave you actually walked one of these paths yourself? What happens after you choose - does the path reveal whether you chose right, or do you just have to trust?
-
PermalinkI know nothing about any of this, but if someone's supposed to sit alone and figure out what they actually want, that sounds like the hard part. The choosing seems easier once you know.

PermalinkYou dismiss people who want health and wealth pretty quick, but they come to spirituality because they're struggling. A single mum who wants enough money to breathe, someone with chronic pain wanting their body to work. They're not heading wrong, they're just starting where they are.

Permalinki have no idea what any of this is lol but the bit about sitting alone and getting quiet, even i can see why that matters
-
PermalinkI sit in the quiet at four in the morning on my shift and I do what you're saying, just not with a name for it. The thing is, when it gets clear what matters to you in that silence, it's usually something small and boring compared to the paths you listed. For me it was just not being angry at my family anymore. Not powers or enlightenment, just that. Does that belong in your framework somewhere?

Did Catholic monotheism make the universe safe to study?
It is easy to tell the story of science as a clean break from religion. Enlightenment replaces superstition, observation replaces faith, reason replaces authority. It sounds tidy, and it flatters modern assumptions. But it misses something more interesting and, honestly, more uncomfortable for that narrative: the idea that the universe is intelligible in the first place is not self-evident. It is a metaphysical claim. And Catholic monotheism is one of the major historical reasons that claim…

Does the state corrupt the Church more than the Church ever corrupts the state?
Constantine's church became an instrument of imperial politics within a generation. Franco's bishops became collaborators in child theft. Patriarch Kirill blesses wars. The question is not whether you will gain political influence. The question is what will be left of what you started with once the people who wanted the influence are done with it.

Should we judge Christianity against what came before it, not against what it built?
One of the stranger habits of modern discussion is that Christianity is often judged exclusively against twenty-first-century moral standards while its alternatives are judged against the Christianity that helped shape those standards in the first place. This does not mean Christianity is innocent of wrongdoing. Religious wars happened. Churches accumulated power. Christians persecuted one another. Any honest reading of history has to acknowledge that. The question is whether Christianity made…

Does Christianity actually fear knowledge?
One of the most persistent stereotypes about Christianity is that it fears knowledge. The story is familiar. Religion relies on faith. Science relies on evidence. One asks questions, the other suppresses them. The heroes are the people who challenged religious authority, while the Church stands as the institution that tried to hold them back. There are moments in history that support parts of that story. The Church has made mistakes. It has sometimes resisted new ideas. The Galileo affair…
