When you talk about admitting what isn't working, do you mean one big moment of clarity or more like slowly owning up to it?

You don’t have to have your life figured out.

Sometimes progress is simply admitting that something isn’t working anymore. A relationship. A habit. An addiction. The way you’ve been living.

Change doesn’t start with motivation. It starts when you stop lying to yourself about where you are.

That’s enough for the first step.

i'm stuck in the admitting-things-aren't-working phase and yeah it's terrifying but also like finally not pretending. is this the change starting?

I'm drawn to the part about one step being enough. Gives me permission to stop trying to see the whole path at once. Maybe that's just me needing to hear that right now though.

I'm wondering if the motivation you're talking about comes after you admit the truth, or if you just start moving without waiting for it?

The part about admitting things aren't working, that's where it actually turns. Once you see that, everything else is just logistics.
