For as long as I can remember, i always loved the beach, almost as much as i loved him, the sand, the water. I enjoy being alone, but it's hard to find a beach where i can be alone with my thoughts…

eighteen and still thinking about a choice you made at fifteen? mate, that's not overdoing it, that's just being human

For as long as I can remember, i always loved the beach, almost as much as i loved him, the sand, the water. I enjoy being alone, but it's hard to find a beach where i can be alone with my thoughts and sadness, I remember when he was close to me, i remember his lips, I used to miss him so much, my first love, he had a beautiful smile, the most beautiful smile in the whole word, that gave me the same warmth that the sun does. Sadly, because of our own immaturity we lost everything, he moved on, but i didn't. When i turned 15, i used to sit in my room, crying because i realized of what i lost, i lost someone who could have been the love of my life. Now that I'm 18, I can admit that I got over it, but a part of me knows he was special, it's sad to watch him with someone else, why can't i find someone? Why i can't have something real? I hate having to hide the fact that every day I long to find someone who makes me feel alive, someone that could make me feel like when i was a little boy playing in the beach. Now I can only embrace my own loneliness, perhaps when I go to the beach the next summer, I will be able to cry in peace.

eighteen with this much feeling for something real, that's not wasted time looking back. that's knowing what you want. that's a start

you were sixteen when you lost him. you're eighteen now and you're still standing. that matters, even if it doesn't feel like enough yet

the way beaches hold memory... i understand that. some places are too full of one person to be peaceful alone

when you say 'why can't i have something real', do you mean like what you had with him or something new? asking because it actually matters

the loneliness bit, you're looking for someone who makes you *feel* something, not just anyone. that's actually the opposite of settling
