They kept feeding that engine more power until it cooked itself. Nobody once stopped to ask why it wouldn't move.

The soldiers finally managed to position the capsule around Aurora.

The metal structures were closed one by one.

The doors sealed.

The locks engaged.

The equipment began to operate.

Aurora remained at the center.

Floating.

Motionless.

The inside of the capsule was filled with sensors.

Temperature.

Pressure.

Radiation.

Heart rate.

Oxygen levels.

Everything was functioning.

“Begin moving.”

The platform began to move.

The wheels turned.

The engine increased its power.

The capsule was supposed to advance a few feet.

It didn't move.

“Accelerate.”

The engine responded.

Nothing.

The machine remained exactly where it was.

“Check the system.”

“Everything is normal.”

“Then move it.”

More power.

The engine roared.

The structure vibrated.

But it didn't budge.

Aurora remained at the center of the capsule.

Without even looking at the engine.

The technicians tried again.

This time, they increased the power even further.

The noise filled the area.

The engine strained.

Strained.

And then—

CLACK.

A strong smell of burning metal filled the air.

The engine stopped.

“Shut it down!”

Smoke began pouring from the underside.

A technician rushed to the control panel.

“It’s blown.”

“What?”

“The entire engine.”

Silence.

One of the soldiers looked at Aurora.

She remained still.

The capsule was still operational.

But then one of the support structures gave way.

The capsule tilted.

The soldiers shouted.

“Get back!”

The structure collapsed.

The bottom struck the ground.

The impact sent dust into the air.

Everyone retreated.

For a few seconds, no one knew what had happened.

The capsule lay on its side.

Motionless.

The sensors were still active.

The interior lights remained on.

Aurora was inside.

Still floating.

A few inches above the floor of the capsule itself.

A soldier approached.

“Aurora?”

No response.

He looked at the instruments.

Everything was normal.

The capsule wasn't moving.

The engine was burned out.

The structure was partially damaged.

And Aurora remained exactly as before.

Still.

Floating.

Watching.

As if nothing had happened.

One of the researchers finally spoke.

“She isn't trapped inside the capsule.”

The officer looked at him.

“What do you mean?”

The researcher pointed at the sensors.

“We're the ones trapped in here with her.”
