there's that specific moment in the poem where you're asking if he lets the facade fall when he's alone, or if you're the only one still yearning. and what gets me is that you're holding both possibilities at once—hope and dread, side by side. i loved someone like this once, this kind of wanting where every small sign felt like maybe, and every silence felt like no. the thing nobody tells you about unrequited love isn't the pain of it, it's the exhaustion. the part where you stop wondering if he loves you and start wondering if you can keep doing this to yourself.

Title: ???

Think of me when you see a lily,

or when the radio plays rockabilly.

Like i see you in Parisian lights,

and on lonely cold nights.

Maybe our stars never aligned,

and love was out of mind,

Yet I feel so inclined,

to go back even though I put the past behind.

On autumn days I wonder,

if your eyes flicker with somber,

when you think of ocean waves,

like mine do when I hear similar names.

Do you look at lovebirds,

and are at a loss of words,

as the memories flood in,

and your composure wears thin?

Do you let the facade fall in stillness?

stare at the ceiling with numbness?

or am I still yearning,

for a love that is never returning?
