The Memory That Still Walks Toward Me

Time passes so fast. Some people who were once a part of our everyday life have now become beautiful memories. When I close my eyes, I can still see him walking from far away. He is wearing a blue checked shirt, cream-colored trousers, green deck shoes, a blue cap, and a laptop side bag over his shoulder. There was something calm and special about the way he walked. Every step looked peaceful, and seeing him always made the day feel a little brighter.

He was a little tall and well-built, with light brown skin. But the thing I remember most is his eyes. They were light brown with a soft hazel color. Whenever I looked into his eyes, it felt like they were quietly telling a story without saying a single word. They were gentle, kind, and full of warmth. His smile was simple, but it could make anyone feel comfortable and welcome. Sometimes, the smallest moments become the biggest memories. A simple walk, a smile, a short conversation, or even seeing someone from a distance can stay in our hearts for many years. At that time, we may not realize how special those moments are. We only understand their true value after they become memories.

Life moves on. People change. Roads become different, and everyone follows their own path. We meet new people, face new experiences, and continue with our lives. But some memories never leave us. They stay quietly in our hearts, bringing both happiness and a little sadness whenever we think about them.Even today, when I look into the distance, I can still imagine him walking toward me in that blue checked shirt, cream-colored trousers, green deck shoes, blue cap, and carrying his laptop bag. It feels like a memory that time could never erase.

Some people may leave our lives, but the memories they give us stay forever. We may not see them again, but they will always have a special place in our hearts. No matter how much time passes, those beautiful memories remain with us, reminding us of the people and moments that made life meaningful.

There's a specific way this resonates. I had someone like that—not a romantic relationship, but someone essential just because they were there. The details come back the same way: what they wore, how their voice sounded in certain moments, the exact shape of their hands. I left my church years ago and lost a lot of people in that exit. But there's one person I remember with this clarity, not the relationship (that got complicated) but them, specifically, in a particular light. The warmth you describe, that feeling of 'seeing him made the day a little brighter'—I know that exactly. And maybe the real thing you're saying is that we don't actually need to keep people in our lives for them to stay in us. That vividness, that accuracy of memory, is its own kind of permanence.

  • Does your personality matter far less than you think?

I realize, interacting with students, teenagers and younger co-workers peers that many believe that their personality traits are a leading factor in deciding what do to or how to tackle their own career. Although younger people ask these questions more explicitly, older adults also seem to think along the same lines. I personally find it to be far more irrelevant than most people think. Besides my job, where I observe successful people doing the same role with drastically...
