getting picked out of thousands of identical cans to have your whole day change at random... yeah, that feels right
The Life of a Diet Coke
Sitting on a shelf with thousands the same
In groups

Sitting on a shelf with thousands the same
Wondering what other shelves look like
The little coke can merely blinked an eye
When a shadow stopped by and a hand came
So many to pick from with no difference
Sitting back with a little self pitied sigh
Little coke can just squinched little eyes
Being lifted up with nothing making sense
Too much excitement in the rocking cart
Jiggling a little in unexpected unknown
Poor little thing simply wished for best
Opening up to all possibilities and a new start
Long ride in the dark square box of the car
Wondering how many more miles to go
The simple minded coke couldn’t count
Wished for the best of all to the spinning star
Bright sunshine peeking through the box
Waking up with woozy dream to complete
The squashed coke just squinted ...
Being lifted up again and set down on a rock
Heated rock against its little cold body
Seeking for the intention of the large man
The destination seems near but not clear
Dreaded in vain and wailed in uncertainty
Warmed up in heated bubbles and acidity
Moaning for cooling air of the shelves
The buzzing sound of lifted cap stroke
Relieved in sigh of life away in certainty
Clock ticked seemingly without end
Puzzled with indecisive course of action
Sweaty little coke can rolled eyes around
Indeed seeing a shadow of enormous kind
Anxiety kicked off in hopeless and despair
Wanting to know exactly the next thing
The enormous shadow moved around
Dreaded little coke was lifted up in the air
Two shinny fixated eyes made it choke
Wondering what could be so fascinating
There came an exhilarating exclaim
‘’Aspartame, that’s what makes a DIET coke!’
Shivers waved through and out, with a deep sigh
Questioning what could be worse
‘Of course Aspartame,
could have been a smarter one to say bye’
Sweats, tears dripping and smeared with stain
Feeling light headed while getting empty
A strange question suddenly came to mind
Would an empty coke, diet or not,
be still a coke or just a can?
Thoughts
-
Permalinkwhy the enormous shadow and not just say a person? like, was that the point, that the can sees this huge scary thing?
-
Permalinkthe jiggling in the cart, the not knowing, the fear. that feeling is staying with me
-
Permalinki copied down the part where the little coke squinches its eyes and understands nothing and i need to keep it
-
Permalinkwhen the can learns it's made of aspartame, was it better off not knowing?
-
Permalinkthis little can is making me worried about things and the story isn't even done 😅
-
Permalinkat the end when it asks if an empty can is still a coke, do you think it already knew the answer?
-
Permalinkthe way you gave that can its own worries about what it means to exist, i recognised that in people. one of millions, still scared of being nothing.
