To The Girl Who Got Away

I am Charmaine and this is my story, I was born at Lionel Town Hospital in Lionel Town Clarendon, Raised by both my parents in a small community called Sedge Pond. I was raised not to be on the streets, I couldn't go anywhere mostly church on Sundays, some would say "house rat". I was baptized when I was 12.

My mom had a stall in Lionel Town where she usto sell Ground Provisions and Fruits, I was there with her most of the time, coming from primary school and other times on weekend, I would help her pack or play with children that were near. My Dad died when I was 10 years old, He was a Provider and Protector, His death had some real hold on me, from that tender age, My brothers were in their early 30s at the time. It has been some real struggle since he died and just hasn't been easy, after sometime my mom was sick and admitted to the hospital for some time, it was just my brothers and I, my brother who was older than the other, played a small part to for me to be present at High school but it was extremely hard because the funds I've gotten could barely give me anything to eat, but there was a teacher that allowed me to get food at lunch time. I was so young and felt so empty that I backslide, My faith was decreased.

My time in High School, I wasn't anyone's favorite, I had associates and maybe just two friends, I was mocked, but somehow I pulled through, I did CSEC but I didn't got much, after leaving school, I went to another institution and did City&Guilds and more. I passed all.

I didn't went straight into the working field after leaving Territory Institution, Which was Knox Community College. I made some friends and I was just out in the world partying, drinking, Relations heartbreaks, just living, I stopped in 2019, I went into the working field, My first Job was at a Call Center Job title was Customer Representative, My second Job was a Store attendance, the list goes on in the working field, where I tried to had my own, I've encountered many things, I was even in situations that I didn't want to be in. In 2021 met new friends started the pary life again, I just thought being out here having the most fun this way would make me happy, I usto struggle with depression so bad, that many times, I wanted to end my life. I did this life for 3+years. So many things was going on.

In July 2024, My Godson Christening, I attended, and it was like I was set up by God, The words that were spoken sit up instead of me, God was calling me back home.

August 25th 2024, I recommitted my life, and I must say this as been the best decisions I've made but it haven't been easy, I had to let of so may people and things that I wanted to keep, God had to isolate me, Break me, but through every season I knew I was still here, so may times I wanted to throw in the towel, As I write this to my readers, I will say, I might not be where I want to be, the place I am right now in my life, I am not where I usto be, As I continue to show up, Obey, Honor, I will see is hand move in my life like never before. I GOT AWAY FROM OLD LIFE.

The End

The thing that hit me hardest was reading about losing your faith because your dad died and there wasn't enough food—that's not a spiritual weakness, that's just what happens to thirteen-year-olds when the world breaks. I've sat in rooms full of people who left faith for intellectual reasons and it always felt like a completely different story than yours. What you did in July, showing up to that christening, listening, actually hearing it—that's braver than people give credit for. I'm rooting for August 25th you.
