why do you feel more motivated when people say don't? is it the person or the risk?

Now that I knew his name, I just wanted to find him at the shop to see who he was. I got home, said hello to my mom, and we chatted for a bit. Then my brother and sister-in-law arrived; I greeted them, went to my room to shower, and later came back down to have dinner and talk with them.

That’s when my brother said to me:

—Hey, you need to know there are people you shouldn't associate with, okay?

—Why?I asked.

—There are members of organized gangs around here—you know, gangsters.

—Oh, okay, I get it. I'll be careful.

— don't want to see you getting involved with those people. I have friends who’ve told me about them; their names are Nico, Dan, and Ale. They’re the ones who live in this area.

I was stunned, because I didn't know if it was the same Ale I’d wanted to meet. All I said was, "Okay, got it," then I went to my room, put on some music, and lay down to think about everything he’d told me. And the funny thing is, instead of being scared, I felt even more motivated!
