Reading these in a row, the missing ciao keeps getting bigger. By the dream sonnet the whole affair plays out in his head and he wakes up grieving it. The poems ended up being the conversation that never happened.
History of what never occurred

Words liberate the soul; silence imprisons
it and corrodes the spirit.
The simplest truth is that we have no power over anyone else.
The most frustrating thing in life is not being able to make the person we love, the person we desire, look at us with the same fervor that burns deep inside us.
The greatest penance is what goes unsaid.
Words liberate the soul; silence imprisons it and corrodes the spirit.
Damn whoever stayed silent, who couldn't even be bothered with just… a ciao.
All I'm left with is to brood and reshape the season, sometimes as a good Samaritan, sometimes as a tormentor, from rejecting this vast orchestra of murmurs for so long.
Not the murmurs of those who stayed silent (from them there was never a sound), but my own: private rages, indignations that keep echoing.
In the end, it was all I needed:
a simple "no" would have been enough.
…
Not even a word
A tale almost lived,
Now lies in ruins,
Before the prose
Of a love that never was.
There must be
A love for me,
But not a word,
Not even “ciao”—
Bravo!
Here I stand,
Lost in thought,
Imagining
A wordless talk.
Now I dramatize
What never came to be;
Shakespeare would envy
This tragedy of me.

Obscene sonnet
I'm waiting for you, naked, in the half-light,
face down, arms wrapped around the pillow,
while my mind catches glimpses of you
through the warm steam of the bathroom.
You step out with a towel around you,
hair dripping onto the floor,
my pupils wide, you blurring in my sight,
breathless, sweating, hard with wanting you.
Your hair between my fingers,
my body over yours,
a glass of wine on the nightstand.
I woke up swept away by the story,
now damp from everything that unfolded,
and I spent the whole night in mourning.
…
Ashes of our ruins
Long ago I dreamed
I would meet you
In the future that never was
So far, you and I
Our story will always remain
In the verses of this poem
Full of sorrow and regret
My heart won't let you vanish
I'll be waiting on fire
Full of flames and frames
Of our desires
For you to return
We were young
And beautiful
Rebels
Yet, two promises
Now what I seek is far from gone
Is the words never spoken
Of love and passion
I wished you had recited
As I vanish within the ashes
Of our ruins I've collected
Realizing you may have been just
What I needed you to be
…
I’ll be yours until the end
I pulled your waist close, closing the abyss
Your lips find mine in the pitch dark
Our tongues in tune
A sigh from you
In our own rhythm
We became whole and bare
My torso met your body
And we were joined in a single synchrony
We lay on the ground, chilled by the night dew
Breathing in harmony, like lovers
Eternal
Your deepest desires are summoned
Looking straight into my eyes
You find another one hiding there
Between insecurities and mischief
Yet offering only tenderness
Do not be afraid of me
I'll be yours until the end
In the end, I adore you
But I do not love you
I endorse it
…
A wordless ciao
There was a tale
I didn’t want to read
Of a dreamer
Dreaming about me and you
I left through the door
Without opening it
I was tired
Of him as much as his dreams
All I left behind
Were ashes from my cigarette
The expected future
Won’t be found in these verses
I said hello with my eyes
He said, "My world,"
With a passionate smile
With silence, I said goodbye
As I vanished from his sight
I began to recite
With a glass of wine
A wordless ciao, meaning…’hi’

PermalinkSmall hill, but I don't buy that a plain no would have settled it. A no gets replayed in your head for a year too. Silence just leaves more room, and that room is where all five of these got written.

Just a little vent✨
Well, let's start at the beginning, I don't know how to start writing since I'm new here. I was searching on Google for sites to write and I found this one. I don't even know if anyone will read…

Smiling Again
— Why are you like that?
-
Would that be prudent?
— When I was alone, my mind would seek you out… And when I remembered those eyes upon me…

I sit on a bench.
