Since The Shadow of Ashwood appears to be the story we started together, here's Chapter 2 as a continuation.
The Shadow of Ashwood
Chapter 2: The Whispering Forest
The next morning, Emily woke before sunrise. The strange symbol from the old book was still fresh in her mind. She quickly got dressed and slipped the book into her backpack.
Outside, a cool mist covered Ashwood. The village was quiet except for the distant chirping of birds.
Emily hurried to meet her best friend, Noah.
"You look like you didn't sleep at all," Noah said.
"I found something in the library," Emily replied, showing him the book. "And I think it has something to do with the shadow I saw."
Noah examined the faded pages. Suddenly, a folded map slipped out and landed on the ground.
"A map?" he whispered.
The map showed the village and a dark mark deep inside the forest.
"We have to go there," Emily said.
By noon, they reached the edge of Ashwood Forest. The trees stood tall and twisted, blocking much of the sunlight. The deeper they walked, the quieter everything became.
Then Noah stopped.
"Did you hear that?"
A faint voice drifted through the trees.
"Find the stone..."
Emily's heart raced.
"Who said that?"
No answer came.
They followed the sound until they reached a clearing. In the center stood a large stone covered with the same symbol from the book.
As Emily touched it, the ground trembled.
A hidden doorway slowly opened beneath the stone.
Cold air rushed out from the darkness below.
From somewhere inside, glowing eyes opened.
And a deep voice echoed:
"The Keeper has returned..."
