The Promise Under the Stars
Aarav and Meera had been best friends for years before they realized that their bond had become something special. They loved sitting on the old rooftop after sunset, talking about their dreams, fears, and silly little things.
One evening, Meera looked at the stars and said, โPromise me something.โ
โWhat?โ
โEven when life gets difficult, donโt let us become strangers.โ
Aarav smiled. โPromise.โ
Years passed. Life became busy. Aarav moved to another city for his studies, while Meera stayed behind. Their calls became shorter, their messages less frequent, and eventually, silence filled the space between them.
Meera thought the promise had been forgotten.
Then, on her birthday, she returned to the old rooftop.
There was a small envelope waiting for her.
Inside was a photograph of the two of them from years agoโand a note.
โSome promises take longer to keep than others. Look behind you.โ
Meera turned around.
Aarav was standing there with the same nervous smile she remembered.
โI told you,โ he said, โI wouldn't let us become strangers.โ
Meera smiled through her tears.
And beneath the same stars where they had made their promise years ago, they realized that some bonds don't disappear with distance.
Sometimes, they simply wait to be found again. โจ
