Part One โ Before the Headlines
On a cold December night in 2012, Delhi became the centre of a case that would capture India's attention and lead to enormous public protests.
At the centre of the investigation was Ram Singh, one of the men accused in the case. Before the crime became national news, he had lived a relatively ordinary life and worked as a bus driver in Delhi.
On 16 December 2012, a young woman and her male friend boarded a private bus in Delhi. What followed became one of India's most widely reported criminal cases. The young woman suffered severe injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police quickly began investigating. The case attracted extraordinary public attention, with people across India demanding justice and stronger action against sexual violence.
As investigators worked to identify those responsible, the story moved rapidly from a local criminal investigation to a national crisis.
But the investigation was only beginning.
Part Two โ The Investigation would follow how the police built the case and what happened to the accused.
