I usually follow these steps before believing a news story, since we may come across stories from previous years, from other countries, or taken out of context.
How to spot fake news and inaccurate data:
Check the Source: Verify if the news or data comes from a reputable, accredited institution or official channel.
Look for Evidence: Reliable information is supported by facts, statistics, and verifiable research, not just strong opinions.
Analyze Bias: Consider who wrote the article and whether there is a commercial or political motive behind the message.
Developing critical thinking is essential not only for personal decisions but also for professional environments where accurate data drives successful outcomes.
