Between Silence and You
My silence was never pride—
only fear, dressed in quiet.
I always knew the words;
I just didn't know if you'd hear the heart within them.
A thousand conversations
still ache inside my throat.
Every unsaid sentence,
another anchor in the dark.
You only ever saw the calm,
never the storm I was hiding.
I was never trying to win—
I was only trying not to lose us.
And I am still here—
loving, feeling, breaking—
praying for the patience it takes
for silence to finally become words.
